Get happy here!
This week’s playlist is an eclectic mix of hip hop, reggae, drum&bass and dancehall genres, where artists have seamlessly mixed various cultures and sounds, as you can hear in the first track by Mos Def, where Brooklyn rap/Hip hop meets Jamaican reggae.
Kat Dahlia (featured to the right) brings the dynamite with tracks Happy and I know It and a remix of her song, Clocks. Since the release of her track Crazy, Kat Dahlia has since had vocal cord diagnosis, which forced her to cancel her East Coast headline tour, but promised fans that she would soon be able to return to her music.
Returning to the Jamaican influence, the tracks featuring Konshens are characterised by the energetic dancehall rhythms. Dancehall music began in the late 1970s and has since changed the face of music, with so many artists over the world, collaborating on tracks that feature Dancehall riddims, such as Busy Signal, Vybz Kartel and Demarco.
