Curious minds and creative hearts,

We are looking for three layout artists to join our team for the fourth issue of Rhetoric Magazine: VERTIGO. If you enjoy designing posters, making collages, fitting words and images on a page to fulfill aesthetic visions, we need you to join our project.

Layout artists will work directly with curators to create layouts for pieces submitted by contributors. Layouts will be made from a combination of submissions, pieces from individual contributor portfolios, and anything in the public domain – the layout artist must therefore not only be able to work with the materials given, but also independently search for complimentary pieces available outside of our parameters.

Layout artists must also display initiative and vision in terms of creating calls for submissions in the event that a piece requires specific illustrations. Flexibility, ability to communicate clearly and collaboration are therefore highly valued traits.

The sections featured in the upcoming issue are as follows: CREATIVE WRITING (headed by Malashree Suvedi), MUSIC (Shannon Duane), and ART (Juanita Lee). Each section is overseen by a curator, whose visions for their respective sections can be viewed by clicking the links above. Check out our previous issue for a sense of the Rhetoric aesthetic.

Est. time commitment: 3-5 hours/week (see the timeline for details)
Compensation:Rhetoric Magazine is a non-profit arts community. Neither contributors nor curators are paid.

TO APPLY: email three samples of past design work (posters, collages, leaflets, etc.) and a cover letter to info@rhetoricmagazine.com by midnight of May 23, 2014. Please specify your section preference in your email.  We look forward to hearing from you!
